I Hate It When People Give You The Wrong Information.

Ok, some people should be more familiar with there equipment before posting about it. I ran across a video of two guys running a DK2 wood chipper, the same one I have and I see they made a few mistakes about it.

FIRST: ABOUT THE DRUM:

In the video they say one side is weighted and the other side cuts as it spins, this is incorrect. The drum itself weighs around 100 pounds. There are two blades on the drum, not a blade on one side and weights on the other side.

SECOND: TURN THE GAS ON!

It kind of makes you wonder how they missed turning the gas on when it's right below the choke? Duh... Next video shows the chipper starting then stopping because the gas is turned off.

AFTER THE GAS IS TURNED ON:

A 2-GUY OPERATION: ???

Really? A two guy operation to run this thing? Makes me wonder if these two guys are afraid of all the equipment they use? It only takes one person to run or work with this machine. I'll admit have two people are better, just for having a person around just in case something you wouldn't expect to happen, happens. I don't think anything serious would happen or then minor injuries for the most part, like getting slapped by branched while they are being pulled into the machine or maybe "kickbacks" that could hit you or maybe take an eye out but that's why you should wear safety goggles. Lets face it, if  you somehow fell into the machine, it would probably be "lights out" if someone was there or not. As with any machine you have to be careful and respect it. The chipper doesn't care if your wood or human, it's still going to do what it's made for.... chip!

EMERGENCY STOP:

The emergency stop on this machine is probably better then it used to be, even so, it can be hit accidently at times. The older machine had a big bar going all around the  input shoot and I could imagine how mane times people had branches accidently hit that bar and cause the machine to shut down. Even with the button, I now and then have a branch hitting it shutting the machine down.

About the safety button.... if the machine doesn't start when you go to use it, be sure the safety button wasn't accidently pushed in the last time you used it, else it will never start. If the safety button accidently does get pushed in by a branch while using it, you need not have to let the machine shut down, just reset the safety button and the machine will come back on and keep running.

VAPOR LOCK??

I question if there machine was actually vapor locked. I don't know what the temp was where they were, but there is a "cap" on top of the air cleaner for summer/winter use. What this is or does, it draws in fresh air if turned to summer, and if turned to winter it pulls air in from over top of the motor. You pull air from over top of the motor so you have warm/hot air going into the carb so if you have and water/moisture in your gas, it won't freeze up and stop the gas from flowing which might have been there problem. In the summer you turn the cap to summer so it pulls in fresh air and NOT the hat air from over top the motor. It tells you in the instructions NOT to run the machine when the temp is above freezing with the cap turned to winter, it could cause damage to the motor.

Halloween Graveyard Update.

Ok, it finally got dark out so I could take a few pics and video. I think it looks pretty good but for one thing which I'll have to look at tomorrow. That one thing is the small skeletons in the coffin. The problem is I want there heads facing more towards the road but the heads themselves don't turn so I'm going to have to reposition the skeletons so they face the road.... somehow.

As you can see in this pictures the small skeletons face like towards the side and to actually see them from the road you only have a split second because of the bridge and trees. Coming from the other way you have more time to to see. Fact is, when coming from the bridge, chances are you might pass the whole thing without even seeing it. :-(

Another pic of the graveyard.

Here's a small video of the graveyard with some fog.

An update to our Halloween graveyard.

We did an update to our Halloween decorations today. We added the two skeletons carrying the coffin and we put two smaller skeletons in the coffin.

We was lucky to get the skeletons with the coffin. We checked the other day and Walmart was sold out, of course they were cheaper but I don't think as well made and I don't think (not sure) if the eyes lighted up. Lowes didn't sell them at all that I know, and the only other place (around here) was Big Lots.

So the wife say's why not wait so she can save around $15.00 (I think). I told her we could go out and pay the regular price, or wait and end up with nothing because they will be gone. We didn't even know if they had any left but we went out to look. A good thing we did because they only had one left! Of course if we waited we would have ended up with nothing.

The wife also liked a wolf they had that howled but they were all gone but the display that was sitting out, some lady while we was there took it also. I always tell the wife if she see's something she likes, get it then because later it will be gone. That happed with her a few times. Just like Walmart with the skeletons and coffin, they had about 5-6 of them and they were all gone when we went to buy one.

Here in about an hour I have to go turn the lights on for the eyes for the skeletons carrying the coffing, and the two smaller ones in the coffin. I also want to put another light up to shine on the skeletons carrying the coffin. I'll post a night shot later. :-)

Getting Ready For Halloween?

Well, were working on it. In the pictures and video below is up by the firepit. Of course it's nothing great or big, but at least it's something!

See the RED eyes in the skeleton? We bought the 7' skeleton at Lowes, the 5' foot skeleton had eyes that lit up but not the 7-footer. So I had these 120 volt small red lights which I mounted in the skeletons eye sockets, worked out pretty good!

Here is the small set up we have up by the firepit.

The cobweb kind of sucks. I never was good putting cobweb up. I guess I should have moved the pvc pipe under it but from the road you probably can't see it anyways.

Here's a short video also.

You will notice we have a "fog machine" running also. So we bought a fogger and needless to say, the instructions sucked as must instructions do these days. In the instructions it tells you about how to press the switch for how long to make fog, we the switch is nothing more then an on/off switch.

At a later date we went back to Lowes and just by chance the wife seen a switch that can control the fogger, so we bought it and it works pretty good! Damn fog juice is expensive!!! I's like $26.00 for a gallon of it!

When we first hooked up the fogger, the tank hold about 8 oz. of fog juice and that lasted for about 45 minutes!!! Holey shit! After getting the controller for the fogger, it now last for 4 hours, of course we only have it putting out fog for about 5 seconds, and to fog just a little over a minute. So just over a minutes time it will come on and shoot fog for 5 seconds.

Ok, you can make your own fog juice which I did and I don't think it's worth the time or trouble. In the end what it cost and get a good long lasting fog, you my as well just buy a gallon of it. What I made up would maybe be ok indoors like a haunted house or something, but outside the fog didn't hang around very long.

I bout a small bottle of stuff to make my fog juice and I'm wonder how much I'll have to add. The bottle was only 6 oz. and it calls for a cup of that stuff to 5 cups of water a 5/1 ratio. So adding 5 cups of water would be more water then I needed for only a 6 oz bottle of stuff. Also as a final note, they don't recommend using homemade fog juice. So I did one, but I'll buy it from now on.

We also have a few things at the front of the house, I might post a picture or video of it then.

If you wonder why I don't post more, it because I don't think anyone reads this stuff, at least I never get a comment of any kind, good or bad. If I knew people or at least someone was reading my post I might post more often. :-)
