Nice Buck

Here's a nice buck caught on a trail camera in Jan. Ok, did you see the deer feeder? Did you know they are illegal to use. I didn't know it until three years of having it up and a game warden stopped and said I had to take it down, so I did.

One thing I don't get.....if they are illegal to use, why does just about every place sell them? Did you know it's also illegal to feed wild animals of any kind? You are not even to throw food out for the animals.

And no, your not suppose the feed the birds or squirrels either.......

While the Humane Society of the United States cautions against feeding wild animals in just about every other capacity, feeding birds and squirrels in your own backyard is generally harmless. But that doesn't mean you can't get legally dinged for setting out a bird feeder.

Some cities or municipalities may have ordinances preventing bird feeders, while others can issue fines against owners whose feeders are not in compliance with the law. You aren't likely to be arrested for illegal bird or squirrel feeders, but you may be facing hundreds of dollars in fines.

Say What It Is, Not What It Isn't.

Ok.... my vocabulary isn't very big, period. Some people use words for certain things which I know what they mean but I'd never think of using them. I was watching a show a few nights ago where this person was saying something and was using these bigger words to explain what he was saying. I forget what it was the person was saying, but when they were done, I thought the person could have said the same thing using about five small words.

One word that really get's to me is the word "floor". Nothing is wrong with this word, but.... what would you think if I said, "I was over at Joe's place and he passed out on the floor"? You would think that I was in Joe's house and Joe passed out, right? Wrong! We were outside when Joe passed out. See the problem with the word "floor"?

I hear to many people using the word floor instead of the correct word "ground". The ground is what it is, the ground, it's not a floor. There is one place that I can think of off hand where you could call the ground a floor, that would be inside of a cave being it has a ceiling, walls, and a floor.

I also wonder why the UK English can be so much different then the US English. The UK English drive me up a wall. A lot of words they use for things are just plain strange. For example, what we call the hood of a car they call a bonnet, we call the trunk they call a boot. To me a bonnet is what a woman will put on her head and a boot you put on your feet.

Or how about this word, "lolly" (spelling) which in the UK means what we would call a truck. There are a lot of words that are English used in the UK that have a different meaning here in the US.

The thing is, if we are going to speak English, lets all use the same words so we don't get so confused at what the other person is saying.

While I'm at it.... if anyone comes to the US to live, there should be a law that they have to speak US English correctly and say the words correctly. How many times have you called a place and get someone on the phone who is "trying" to speak English and you have no idea what they are saying because they are not pronouncing words correctly? I usually tell that person to put someone on the phone who can speak English else I'll just hang up on them.
