1/16" of an inch, that's not very much.

First if you are reading this and wondering why I don't post more often..... fact is I don't think anyone reads my posts so I don't post very often. Anyways.....  I've been pretty busy off and on this my last post. Of course I can't ell you everything because I can't remember everything!

QUIT SMOKING: Today is day 6 that the wife and I gave up smoking. I've been smoking now for 55 years in Aug., and figured it's about time to give it up. How has smoking effected in in all those years? Don't really know, still do pretty much everything I ever did. Just yesterday did a 3 mile hike up into the mountains with no problem. But I'm sure it has effected my breathing and I'll get winded if I really exert myself for an extended period of time.

TRACTOR DRIVE BELT: Today I loaded the lawn tractor onto the trailer and took it to have a new drive belt put on it. The past two times I mowed the lawn I thought it wasn't feeling right when going. So yesterday when I mowed the grass (and was hoping I'd get it finished) I reached under the tractor and felt the belt and where I did feel it, I could feel at that spot a chunk of the inside of the belt was missing.

I usually have to have the belt replaced every 5 years, of course there is no shame for it being the lawn tractor can get used hard at time. Pulling a 5' x 8' trailer loaded with stuff on it is pretty heavy to be pulling with a lawn tractor. But I use the tractor to pull that trailer, I used it to pull the wood chipper (600 lbs), I pull a big wagon loaded with wood (the wagon will hold up to 1000 lbs). I also used it to drag trees up over the bank by the creek, etc., etc. I had that tractor now for about 23 years, soon time to get a new one.

FIRST WOOD CHIPPER RUN AFTER REPAIRS: This evening I fired up the woodchipper and ran some stuff through it for the first time since I put new blades on it. If you read my other post you'll see a blade hit the anvil and broke the blade. They did send me two new blades and a new anvil. I didn't use the new anvil being just the corner of the one that was on got a little (very little) piece taken off.  After putting the new blades on I seen that the blade was making contact with the anvil and it should be 1/16" away from it.

So before running the machine today I rechecked the distance from the blade to the anvil by placing a flat washer (1/16" thick) then turning the drum until the blade passed over the washer sitting on the anvil and it would just make contact with the washer so I left it at that. After firing it up and running some branches through it, it ran like really good.

Did I tell you we seen another bear in the yard?

Also made a small Bigfoot for at the firepit shown below.

On week ends will usually sit at the firepit watching the skies for UFO's, falling stars, satellites, or the space station and drink a couple of beers, talk about the day and listen the the radio.

Guess that's it for now. Have to go roll up the Jeep windows then jump in the shower!
