Busy Day, More Trees

Another busy day today. After getting up and have a few coffee's went out and cut what logs I had laying around, then loaded them into the truck to where the log splitter is sitting and split them all. I was wondering how the electric log splitter was going to cut freshly cut green wood, went through them like butter. The biggest piece was a little over 12" in diam. and 20-inches long but it split with no problem. Another piece was almost the same in diam. but it got wider because of it turning into a "Y", it split it with no problem also.

After splitting all the logs I cut I went ahead and stacked it, so that's done. The next tree to be cut is kind of scary. Not only is it tall, but it's on top of rock bridge support. On top of this rock bridge support you have about 3-feet. One side you might fall about 3-4 feet, but if you go off the other side, you'll fall about 20 feet, ouch! The tree I just cut down was right beside this tree but I could tie a rope around it and pull it the way I wanted it to fall. This next tree has no branches on it to throw a rope around, it does, but it's way to high and I could never throw a rope that high.

In the picture you can see the tree is growing on top of the rocks, and the arrow points to where there is a brance sticking out where I'd like to put the rope. I could never throw it that high... maybe if I stood on top of the rock wall but if I'd lose my balance I might fall off the other side... probably instant death.

So I have that to think about. I also did put out a lot of "Tree of Heaven" trees growning. If you don't have Tree of Heaven in your yard, etc., consider yourself lucky! It's an invaseive tree and a real pain. If you want, look it up.

Another thing I did today was pull the new Cub Cadet out of the shed so I could get the old Cub Cadet out for pulling the wood chipper around. Of course wouldn't you know the old Cub Cadet had a flat on the one front tire, last year it had a flat on the other front tire. So maybe tomorrow if it doesn't rain I might do some wood chipping.
