Bought flower boxes about three years ago... needless to say, they didn't last very long! Only three years? Ok, so they were out in the weather all year long, but still three years is a short time for what I paid for them, so I decided to make my own as shown in the picture below.
I had to end up making three of them, the one in the picture above is the biggest at 40" Long, 12 Deep, and 12" High. The other two are smaller at 28" Long, 12" Deep, and 12" High. These boxes were made out of 1x4x8 foot treated lumber then stained. Hopefully they will last longer than the ones I bought which the wood on them wasn't very thick, plus while I was at the store where I bought the old flower boxes, it say's made out of "barn wood". No wonder they didn't last very long. The thickness of them were only about 1/4".
