What The Hell?

Last year (don't know if I posted this before or not), I got an ear infection. I'm pretty sure I got it when swimming in the pool. It was a really hot day and I had around 300 feet of hose hooked up with a sprinkler on the end spraying over the pool. While floating around in the pool you would go under this spray of cool water keeping you cool from the hot sun. The one time I went under the spray, a drop of water went straight down into my ear, which I ended up with an ear infection.

Of course it's hard to tell what all was breeding in that 300 foot of hose. I'm sure probably all kinds of microbic things. To make a long story short, I ended up going to five doctors and taking five different meds before it cleared up, or at least something that worked. And to top it off, it wasn't some kind of ear drops, but rather eye drops that did the trick!

I was told then that in the beginning it was a regular ear infection which turned into a fungal infection, which then turned into a staph infection. The doctor at the VA hospital said it got to that point from seeing to many doctors.

Well, it seems like I'm going through the same thing again. This time its something around my eye, what it is, I don't know and it seems the doctors don't either. When it first started, I thought maybe I got into some poison ivy, but it never cleared up. So, I go see a doctor and they don't really know what is but prescribed me some cream to put on it, nothing happened. I went last week to see another doctor, they didn't know what it was but prescribed me a different cream, again after a week, no sign of it clearing up any. Oh yeah, they both said because of low humidity and skin drying out. I really don't think that would cause the skin around your eyeball to swell and get like raised little patches on it.

Today I go see another doctor, an eye doctor being its around my eye and to see what he has to say about it.

One thing I don't understand, if they don't know what it is for sure, why don't they take a culture of it and have it looked at? It was the same thing as when I had an ear infection, no one took a sample until I went to the VA hospital.

It's like instead of "guessing" what the problem is, why not find out for sure what's causing the problem. Its kind of like your car develops a problem, there could be half a dozen things that are causing the problem, but it would cost a lot of money just replacing parts trying to fix the problem, that why they put it on a machine to see what's causing the problem.

Just like the doctors "guessing", it wastes a lot of time and money while the problem slowly gets worse by treating something with some kind of meds and not really knowing what they are treating and if what they prescribe will even work.

Well, I'll see what the eye doctor says today. I'm thinking I'm going to get another run around... probably tell me I should go see a dermatologist.
