Been a long time!

It's been a long time since I posted anything..... actually I didn't think people even read this blog so I kind of gave up on it. Anyways, I'm back with a new question.....

What do you think about nuclear energy?

I've always been against it. Why? Because it's not 100% safe. We had three bad nuclear accidents now, Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, and the one in Japan. Even though all three were pretty bad, they could have been worse "if" the core melted and hit ground water. It would have sent a cloud of radioactive crap into the air to not only contaminate the surrounding area, but alse far, far away as the radio active fell back to earth.

Ok, so burning fossil fuel like coal pollutes and contributes to global warming. But.... how long would that take? 100, 200 years? During that time they could look for other ways to create power and or a better way to burn coal like when they made companies put scrubbers on to help clean the air.

So lets say it took only 50 years to double the greenhouse gases from burning coal, that's 50 years they get to work on doing something better, and you still get to live your daily life as usual.

The China Syndrome, you heard of that right?

The China syndrome (loss-of-coolant accident) is a nuclear reactor operations accident characterized by the severe meltdown of the core components of the reactor, which then burn through the containment vessel and the housing building, then (figuratively) through the crust and body of the Earth until reaching the opposite end, presumed to be in "China".

The real scare, however, came from a quote in the 1979 film The China Syndrome, which stated, "It melts right down through the bottom of the plant—theoretically to China, but of course, as soon as it hits ground water, it blasts into the atmosphere and sends out clouds of radioactivity. The number of people killed would depend on which way the wind was blowing, rendering an area the size of Pennsylvania permanently uninhabitable.

So, if there was a real bad accident with a nuclear power plant, you would either end up dead, dying later, and or at least you could never, ever return to your home for thousands of years! I think I would rather put up with burning coal and living and live at my home rather then take the chance of a nuclear accident and everything be gone.

Yep, they keep telling us it's safe and we need it, but if it's so safe, why did we have the three accidents mentioned above and that's not counting the small accidents that we were never informed about. Don't think the three accidents above were the only ones, check out this link to see the ones we don't know of or haven't been told about.

So, you for nuclear energy or not? It's your world, you can destroy it over a period of many years or destroy it over night.... your choice.
