About the Full Bore 38-ton Log Splitter.

Full Bore 38-Ton Log Splitter

I was to pick this up today but didn't, why? It comes down to two reason's, weight and common sense. This thing weighs about 515 pounds! It's not so bad with the wheels, engine, tongue, and the back of the trailer. I could pull them off and assemble them, the hard part is the beam and cylinder, those two parts are one unit, so I don't even know if I could get it off the truck. Not only that, but to hook the trailer part to the beam, you have to stand the beam up on end to connect the two together. So, you have to have at least one person holding it up while another person bolts the two together (it's actually a pin).

Not having a place where I could lift it with a chain hoist, etc, plus trying to do it in a dirt lane would be hard to keep balanced and once it would start to go, there would be no stopping it, either the thing would get damaged, or someone could get seriously hurt.

So rather than taking a chance, I called the store to let them put it together. Of course, they too are having some issues. They are putting something down on the floor and they need to get an assembly person in, so they said it might be a few weeks.

I would rather put it together myself knowing everything was correct and everything was tight, but what are you going to do? You can bet when I do get it and get it home I'll be going over everything.

When I go to pick it up, I'll be pulling it home with the truck. Your not to go over 45 MPH, which is no problem being most of the speed lime home is only 40 MPH.
